TRUMP JOB APPROVAL: AVERAGE 43%

Same as yesterday

RON’S COMMENT: Today’s average is based on five polls, ranging from 40% (Politico) to 50% (Rasmussen). Without these extremes, it would be 42%…. President Trump’s disapproval rating averages 54% today (same as yesterday), which is 11 points higher than his approval rating.

NATIONAL: DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION

Among Democratic voters nationwide

Elizabeth Warren: 29%
Joe Biden: 25%
Bernie Sanders: 13%
Kamala Harris: 5%
Pete Buttigieg: 7%
Tulsi Gabbard: 3%
Andrew Yang: 2%
Beto O’Rourke: 2%

Candidates with 1% or less not listed

RON’S COMMENT: This poll, taken mostly before the last debate, shows Warren first and Biden second. Since last week, it finds Warren and Biden remaining the same, Sanders down 1 point, Buttigieg up 2 points and Gabbard up 2 points.

TRUMP AND SYRIA

Do you approve or disapprove of the way President Trump is handling Syria? 

Approve: 34%
Disapprove: 55%

RON’S COMMENT: 9% of Democrats, 25% of independents and 69% of Republicans approve of Trump’s handling of Syria.

Do you approve or disapprove of Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw U.S. forces from the area near the international border between Syria and Turkey which has had the effect of leaving Syrian Kurds who fought against ISIS vulnerable to attack from the Turkish military? 

Approve: 31%
Disapprove: 57%

RON’S COMMENT: 10% of Democrats, 27% of independents and 57% of Republicans approve of Trump’s decision to withdraw U.S. forces from the area near the international border between Syria and Turkey. Note that fewer Republicans approve of this action than approve of Trump’s overall handling of Syria (69% vs. 57%).

No: 77%

How serious a threat do you think ISIS poses to the United States? 

An immediate and serious threat to the U.S.: 29%
A somewhat serious threat to the U.S.: 44%

RON’S COMMENT: 31% of Democrats, 22% of independents and 32% of Republicans say ISIS poses an immediate and serious threat to the U.S.

RUSSIAN INTERFERENCE IN 2016 ELECTION

Do you believe that Russia interfered with the 2016 U.S. Presidential election? 

Yes: 58%
No: 29%

RON’S COMMENT: 80% of Democrats, 41% of independents and 26% of Republicans say Russia interfered with the 2016 election. Also, 53% think Russia will interfere with the 2020 election.

RUDY GIULIANI

Do you have a favorable or an unfavorable opinion of [Rudy Giuliani]? 

Favorable: 39%
Unfavorable: 51%

RON’S COMMENT: 13% of Democrats, 30% of independents and 70% of Republicans have a favorable opinion of Giuliani.
