TRUMP JOB APPROVAL: AVERAGE 44%

Down 2 from yesterday

RON’S COMMENT: President Trump’s approval rating is now nearly 3 points below the vote he received in the recent election (44% vs. 46.9%)….Today’s average is based on four polls, ranging from 41% (Politico) to 48% (Rasmussen). Without these extremes it would be 43%…. Trump’s disapproval rating averages 54% today (+3 from yesterday)…. See the trend in Trump’s job approval average since the beginning of 2020  at approval trend.

He should concede: 63%
He should NOT concede: 37%

RON’S COMMENT: 96% of Biden’s voters and 27% of Trump’s voters think the president should concede.

2020 ELECTION: WAS IT FAIR?

Among voters nationwide

How much confidence do you have that the 2020 presidential election was held fairly? 

A great deal/quite a bit of confidence: 51%
A moderate amount of confidence: 9%
Only a little confidence/None at all: 37%

RON’S COMMENT: 94% of Biden’s voters and 7% of Trump’s voters have a great deal or quite a bit of confidence that the 2020 presidential election was held fairly. Also––70% of Trump’s voters have no confidence at all.

ELECTORAL COLLEGE

When it comes to U.S. presidential elections which would you prefer? 

  • Amend the Constitution so the candidate who receives the most total votes nationwide wins the election: 47%
  • Keep the current system where the candidate who wins the most votes in the Electoral College wins the election: 38%
  • Not sure: 15%

RON’S COMMENT: There is no majority either way on the Electoral College, although more voters favor getting rid of it than keeping it. By party: 69% of Democrats, 25% of Republicans and 43% of independents oppose keeping the Electoral College system and 15% of Democrats, 58% of Republicans and 33% of independents support keeping it.

WILLIAM BARR

Do you have a favorable or an unfavorable opinion of William Barr? 

Favorable: 18%
Unfavorable: 51%

RON’S COMMENT: A majority of voters have negative feelings toward AG Barr, who will soon exit from his job. His disagreements with President Trump have hurt his standing among Republicans and hasn’t helped him among Democrats…. Among Biden’s voters, Barr is 6% favorable/73% unfavorable. Among Trump’s voters, Barr is 31% favorable/43% unfavorable.
